Doctrine of the Prophetic
Church:
A Summary of What We Believe:
(updated as of 4 December, 2010)
The Prophetic Church is a Christian congregation emphasizing spiritual freedom. You are allowed to follow moral truth which is not necessarily in the Bible. You are allowed to recognize things as real which are not necessarily approved by the high church administration. You are allowed to be a minister without 8 years of academic study. You are allowed to question the news and things around you. You are allowed to get not only active, but political. You are allowed to make up your own mind. And you take individual responsibility for it.
We are taught by God (not humans).
Isaiah 54:13 (KJV): "And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children."
Matthew 11:29 (KJV): "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."
John 6:45 (KJV): "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."
Here is what we believe in detail:
We are a Christian Church; we believe much in common with other Christian Churches as per the Nicene Creed.
This includes the foundational belief of a Creator God.
We believe that God always cares about morality, ie. right versus wrong, whether we do or not.
We believe that we are accountable to God our Creator, especially in terms of our moral choices and contribution.
The ultimate culmination of this is the Day of Judgment (Matt 12:36, 1 Peter 4:4).
There is no spiritual safety in numbers, as Judgment is individual.
Therefore it is spiritually safer to do what seems right to you, no matter how unpopular, no matter what the crowd is doing, because you must answer for yourself. You can simply give a better answer for doing what makes sense to you than what doesn't or seems wrong.
We recognize one living master and teacher: the Son of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ (Matt 23:8-10). In Him is absolute authority over all Church affairs (Eph 5:23). He will come again as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (17:14, 19:16).
We find moral truth through Prophecy, Ethics, and Logic: preferably all together, rather than just one.
Debate of morality is encouraged, but is more for exposition than finding enlightenment.
Prophecy is based primarily on Scripture, but also includes more recent and unending inspiration from God in a true living Relationship and Instruction.
The Word of God is infinite and extends beyond the Holy Bible which is a human compilation never meant to put an end to it.
Prophecy includes both ancient Scripture and more recent revelation.
We recognize the Bible, Gospel of the Holy Twelve and live Prophecy as valid sources of Inspiration.
Ethics is based on such concepts as equality(-of-kind) and truth.
Individual thought is permitted, tolerated, and encouraged, but the individual bears responsibility.
The minimum agreed morality of the Prophetic Church community is:
the Ten Commandments of the Holy Bible (Exodus 20:1-17)
the elimination of animal abuse (as a direct cause from one's actions).
equal worth and rights for male and female
recognition of the existence of Divine rights (ie. that God the Creator also has certain rights).
We believe in a progressive moral enlightenment (Phil 3:14), which is individual, and towards one common absolute (God's Truth).
We believe that forgiveness of the evil we have done, ie. Salvation from God's Justice is achieved via a combination of:
Repentance: from our sin (Luke 5:32). This includes:
a sincere regret
a sincere desire to not do that again
attempts to mend the harm done if possible
Faith: acceptance of Jesus Christ (the Son of God) as our Saviour (and no other (Acts 4:12)), who made Atonement for us (Romans 3:22-26).
We believe that salvation is sealed in water Baptism, in the Name of Jesus Christ, which is the sacrament of Church initiation and a spiritual washing away of sin in Jesus' Blood.
We believe that Christian Stewardship requires both salvation (by faith/repentance) and good deeds (Luke 13:9, John 15:2, John 15:8).
Our Church concept of "good deeds" must not exclude:
political activism
evangelism
spiritual ministry (prophecy, healing, deliverance)
acts of mercy (feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, burying the dead, etc.).
We believe that worship music is harmonious (Psalm 92:3); the drum is not considered a church instrument in the Prophetic Church.
We believe that Holy Communion is sharing of the real Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in unity.
We believe and practice that the Church must be persistently protected by prayer against any external or internal threats.
We believe that priests should be volunteers, but that ministry expenses should be supported by the membership.
We believe that right action depends on right news and information, which we seek out. We are vigilant against lies as Scripture warns us (John 8:44).
We believe that prayer, helping, fasting, and voting are the four most important forms of activism in Christian life.
The offices of the Church are:
Administrator: the main human keeper of Church integrity
Priest: designated leaders of spiritual ministry and activism
Captain: designated leaders of worldly activism
Member: supporters in common agreement and fellowship
Visitor: anyone who wants to drop in, whether in common agreement or not, as long as intent is friendly
The Administrator reserves powers of appointment, expulsion, excommunication, and amendment to maintain integrity of the Prophetic Church.
The Prophetic Church recognizes other Christian Churches as co-labourers and is willing to cooperate in worthy joint activist ventures.
